I went to a training today for the youth advocates that work in ACS's (NYC's child welfare system) building. There are 5 of us with very different personalities and different histories. What we all have in common is our experience in the foster care system and our desire to make a difference in the lives of the youth coming behind us.

"You ready?"

"Yea, I mean, I guess..." I say and swallow the non-existent saliva in my mouth. I'm nervous and am sure that all the politely-expectant eyes on us can tell. But that doesn't matter. We have a presentation to do and it won't get done correctly if I faint.

Hey you guys, sorry I haven't written in a while. I've been soaking up this all-star experience as much as I can! It was amazing to meet all the youth at the Oregon Teen Conference and the Cali Conference in Sacramento.

All the training couldn't preapre me for how amazing it was to meet all of you guys and to hear your stories. You guys make it all worthwhile.

So, wow! My first week as an all-star was crazy, from moving in to going to trainings everyday. I share a room with five other people and I love it!
